Please vote for the latest Community Superblock!

Hello Snode owners! It’s time to vote for the latest proposals!

There is a great responsibility for Service Node (Snode) owners to vote either “yes,” or “no,” on the proposals. It cannot be emphasised enough how much the community as well as the Blocknet team relies on Snodes to vote on project proposals to ensure continued funding for development of the Blocknet.

  • The proposals for superblock 518400 can be viewed below or on the forum here. Voting will close at Block 515520, but your node must remain active until block 518400 for your vote to count. Please note, this is the first time proposals are being submitted individually so please make sure you scroll down and take your time to look over each proposal.

The latest Superblock details are below in alphabetical order:

Superblock 518400

Arturo is an XBridge C++ developer with a background in high-frequency trading that is currently working with us on-site in Austin through a recruiting agency that charges us $135/hr (2200 BLOCK per month @ $10.50). Over the course of several months of interviews, Arturo was chosen to join the team out of a handful of candidates, most candidates were not qualified. We want to give the servicenodes an opportunity to vote on this and signal approval/disapproval to continue at the current BLOCK prices.

Previous Tasks:

  • Developed a Mozilla RR debugging environment
  • Created truncate log config parameter for Service Nodes
  • Fixed DX order cancellation for expired orders
  • Created new DX API call to flush canceled transactions

Tasks for August:

  • Fix XBridge freeze issue on startup
  • Implement XWallets

Tasks for August:

  • DX Automated Setup: I am code reviewing and releasing the long awaited Block DX automation. The team has been working on this for several months, and we are very excited to get this out the door. In case you’re wondering, we asked Hanni to lead this effort so that the rest of the dev leadership could focus on XRouter and the new wallet, he did a great job.
  • DX Place Order by Price : Currently in development, I will be reviewing and releasing this feature in August.
  • Trade History: I am code reviewing this feature (part of the core wallet) and we are planning on releasing this in an August wallet update. This will allow users to see historical data in the DX.
  • XWallets: I am code reviewing this feature, and if possible releasing this at the end of August. This may require servicenodes to recreate their snode inputs, as a result, we may have to release this in September. We’re trying to solve this without impacting existing snodes.
  • XRouter: I will be involved with the XRouter development, including code reviews and architecture.
  • Coin Control in the New Wallet: I will be releasing the coin control feature in the new wallet.
  • Proposal UI in the New Wallet: I will be releasing the new proposal UI and voting feature in the new wallet for servicenodes. You will be able to vote from the wallet UI without having to use custom cli commands.

Tasks for September:

  • Trade History UI: I will be releasing this in September, this will allow DX users to see historical prices in the DX UI electron app. It’s dependent on the work completed in the Trade History feature.

Cost Assessment: Total: 960 BLOCK

For more detailed instructions see: http://blocknetdx.forumotion.com/t6-blocknet-proposal-introduction-guide

In addition, we have created a separate proposal notification email alert reminder that snode owners can sign up for here so they do not forget to vote.(This email is separate to the Word on the BLOCK newsletter email).

  • An introduction to Superblocks and a guide to submitting and voting for proposals, can be found here.
  • A proposal category was created in the Blocknet Discord for focused and specific discussion of proposals and ideas. Within this category, there is a channel called #anon-snode-feedback for Service Node owners to provide anonymous feedback on proposals.
  • The amount requested must be 4320 BLOCK or less — Votes in favor must be greater than votes against by at least 10% of the total number of Service Nodes.
  • The proposals that pass are sorted in a descending order list by the sum of yes votes minus no votes. If multiple proposals have an equal sum of yes votes minus no votes, those are sorted randomly. If there are not enough funds remaining in the Superblock for a proposal to be paid out, it is skipped (not paid out), and the next proposal in the list is checked.
  • Multi-month proposals are voted on each month and are treated in the same manner as normal proposals in the ordered list.
  • There is also something called a ‘final budget,’ which needs to be submitted between 2880 blocks and 28 blocks before the Superblock. By default, Service Nodes automatically vote yes on final budgets. Moving forward, proposal voting will end 2880 blocks before the Superblock since the final budget locks in the proposal vote counts.
  • Voting will become a great deal easier and much more user-friendly in the new wallet, taking just a few clicks. You can view the designs for the voting functionality here.
  • An introduction to Superblocks and a guide to voting can be found here.
