Word on the BLOCK: 15th January

Hello everybody and welcome to the latest Blocknet newsletter! This newsletter is released twice per month to keep the community up-to-date on what is happening with Blocknet. You can view all previous newsletters here.

• XBridge development is moving full steam ahead with many updates in the works, including:

- Improved refund address handling where the refund transaction spending of the trader’s deposit back to himself after locktime will prioritize selection of the refund address in the following manner: 1) Using the from address on the order, 2) using the largest UTXO input address for the order, and 3) using the wallets getnewaddress RPC call.

- Multiple fixes for order states and UTXO filter such as an improved and simplified order cancel process, properly excluding trading fee UTXOs across all orders, and setting the rollback state at the time of cancelation

- Changing the allowable locktime drift to 15 minutes

- Cancelling all Service Node orders on shutdown

- Improved UTXO selection algo and maker UTXO verification checks

- Logging deposit P2SH lock times and accurate fee amounts in fee checks

- Additional trade fee verification checks

- Fixed missing exchange enabled check

• Block DX development has many initiatives in progress to improve existing features including improvements to the price chart, depth chart, an orderbook revamp, simplified order statuses, improved error messaging, menu updates, market pricing improvements, changes to order filtering, better own-order identification, and miscellaneous text changes.
• The focus of these latest XBridge and Block DX efforts are geared towards preparing for a large marketing push including articles, planned grassroot initiatives, a relaunch of Coin Announcements, and collaboration with previously announced projects. This will be accompanied by market makers to increase liquidity on Block DX and BLOCK airdrops so new users can begin trading right away. Block DX is the fastest, most secure, most reliable, most user-friendly, and most decentralized DEX. We’re eager to make the world aware of this.
• Upcoming changes to the Superblock budget are being tested on testnet. Read the proposal here.

• Project coordinator Hanni has completed a podcast with Allen from Stake and Nodes discussing all aspects of Blocknet. This podcast is expected to be released in the next few days.
• Arlyn has recorded a podcast with Tom Shaughnessy for the highly respected 51percent podcast on the topic of interoperability. A great deep dive! Check it out here or listen via itunes.
• Blocknet will have a featured interview with Crypto Candor in the next issue of The Blockchain Brief, which is scheduled for release February 1st so be sure to check it out!
• Receive free BLOCK in the Blocknet Social media bounty campaign! Read more here.
• Conversations with other blockchain companies and potential partners are ongoing. These must be kept private for now, but stay tuned!
• Several articles are prepped and almost ready to be published as a part of a marketing push as mentioned above.

• Blocknet’s documentation portal has been released! https://docs.blocknet.co/ These resources will be undergoing progressive and iterative updates including additional content, video tutorials, written tutorials, and tools. This is part of an initiative to strengthen Blocknet’s image, help inform others about the project, and make resources more readily available. More about the plans for the documentation portal can be read in the #documentation channel in Discord.

• Littleeagle has enabled comments and feedback to be added anonymously to proposals.

• For Superblock 734400 there was a total of 487 Service Nodes, requiring a net of at least 49 votes for a proposal to pass. The results are as follows:

• The in-progress (and previous) proposals can be viewed on block-node.info or within the Proposals screen of the wallet. The in-progress proposals can also be viewed on blockdx.co.
• Please note, proposals are being submitted to the forum individually so please make sure you scroll down and take your time to look over each proposal.
• An introduction to Superblocks and a guide to submitting and voting for proposals, can be found here. There is also a proposal category in the Blocknet Discord for focused and specific discussion of proposals and ideas. Within this category, there is a channel called #anon-snode-feedback for Service Node owners to provide anonymous feedback on proposals.
• For Service Node notifications such as critical updates or voting reminders, join this mailing list. (Separate to the Word on the BLOCK newsletter email list).
• Blocknet Service Node stats can be viewed on Master Nodes Pro, on Masternodes Directory, and on Block Core.

• BLOCK was recently submitted to Coinbase to be listed.
• Block Bid exchange is scheduled to open in 10–12 weeks, which BLOCK will be listed on.
• A New Block DX record was reached with over 5000 trades in a 24 hour period and the daily trading volume of BLOCK totalled more volume on Block DX than on all other exchanges combined!

• The Blocknet Protocol currently supports 93 blockchains, all of which can be traded on Block DX. A full list of the supported blockchains can be found on the Blocknet’s Coin Hub. You can also view the current prices, ranking and market cap of of these assets (including BLOCK) on the same page.
• In addition to this list, there are another 27 blockchains that are unannounced.
• 138 blockchains are in progress for error resolution + finalization.
• Besides Block DX, BLOCK is also listed on the following exchanges: Bittrex / CryptoBridge / UPbit / CoinSwitch / Cryptopia / Nova
